Orange Balloonacy

So, Orange Ballonacy is back – and this time it’s bigger, better and a whole load more social. Check it out at http://playballoonacy.com

The race starts on 8th November so if you want to add your website to the course or grab yourself a balloon before the race starts, you better do it now!

If you’ve never heard about Balloonacy before, it is a great internet balloon race where thousands of balloonists fly across a course made out of bits of the internet to win heaps of kudos and prizes. Here’s a quick peek of what happened two years ago

…and this time there’s a prize for website owners too! http://www.playballoonacy.com/prizes

Up for it? Head on over to http://playballoonacy.com where you can add your website, grab a balloon and help make Balloonacy an awesome one this year as well!

Good luck to all the racers!

E 😀

This is why you should befriend your favourite brands on Facebook

First of all let me tell you how exciting I was to finally see BestBuy landing in the UK, and secondly how great it is to finally have a store in this country where customer service is a priority!

Yesterday morning, as I was switching my computer off on my way out, I noticed a BestBuy Facebook status update inviting fans to befriend the Community Manager, Graeme, to be in with a chance of winning a couple of tickets for the O2. Low barrier to entry, easy and a good incentive I’d say …so I did it, with no hope whatsoever!

Off I went to see a movie in the afternoon. On my way out, I checked my emails (as you do) and I was like WTH? I had less than an hour to go home get changed and head off to see Lady Gaga at the O2. I never win anything but hey ho it was my lucky day!

Once we get to the O2, we are welcomed by two lovely chaps from BestBuy into a private VIP suite literally inches away from the stage. I couldn’t believe it…from what was supposed to be a relaxed couch evening to a crazy Gaga concert at the O2, all thanks to BestBuy.

In marketing, we tend to call these Love Bites…those nimble and generous moments of spontaneity from a brand that simply make you fall in love with them a little bit more!

I was already in love with this brand, but now they’ve gained a promoted tweet for at least a week. #ilovebestbuy

This is a perfect example of why you should befriend your favourite brands on Facebook, you never know what might happen – you might be flying to LA next week or get a lovely concert ticket to enlighten your bank holiday weekend! Relationship marketing FTW

Thank you BestBuy!

Lastminute iPhone App – Topsee

Last night I was rather pleased to attend an event organised by the peeps at Lastminute Labs to promote their latest iPhone application, TopSee.

The TopSee app allows you to experience London in a unique different way. It’s been populated by bloggers who mostly spend their own life exploring the hidden gems of the city. There are indeed a lot of apps out there that already provide you with the same functionalities, however the unique selling point for this app is that they are not recommending a specific venue (ie. the best bar in Soho) but a unique element (ie. the best mojito to have in London).

As you can see from the video-demo below, the interface has been beautifully designed. As soon as you open the app, you get geo-located, and through an awesome photo-feed you’ll be able to browse all ‘the top things’ for you to enjoy.

Once you find something interesting you want to experience, you can tweet it and post it to Facebook automatically from the app. The only thing that I’d make more clear within the interface is the ‘shaking’ functionality. I downloaded the app without watching the video below, and I got stuck on the first page without knowing that I’d have to shake the iPhone to get more suggestions. I wonder how many people are going to download the app like me without watching the video and simply through WOM… so definitely something I would add!

You can follow the TopSee team on Twitter, through their blog and download the app below.

Overall, a great application chaps!

The Antwerp Fashion Weekend

Picture 54

I am terribly excited about this weekend as it sees the first ever ‘Fashion Weekend’ in the city of Antwerp.
I will be joined by 9 fantastic European Fashion bloggers who will be having a fun packed fashion-themed weekend in one of my favourite European cities.

Make sure you check out the newly launched site ‘Shopping in Antwerp‘ – Once in there, click on THE HUNT on the top right corner and you’ll be able to read more about the event and see the bloggers who are taking part.

Also, you can join the conversation and enjoy all the content from the event simply becoming a fan of the Facebook page we’ve put together for the program.

If your ‘forte’ is either fashion, food, diamonds or architecture – Antwerp is definitely the city for you!

Ciao,

Enzo
